Literally anyone, even his straight friend, would’ve been a better ending for this story. Obviously it’s subjective but I have points to make, the obvious huge one for me is just like, he’s had this crush on a guy that in the story has shown like actually zero interest in him at all even after MC confessed finally, and one random fuckass chapter him and his random friend we see twice (il her though) is walking about and she’s like “you like him obviously go tell him or you’ll regret it” blah blah and he’s BLUSHING like she just shattered his entire world like some philosophical guru heck it would’ve had the same effect if you just looked at him and said “you’re gay for him” which she practically did, you realize he never even showed interest before that chapter and were already at 20 chapters left with two other characters present that have ALOT better story presence and interactions with the MC
Im like actually shocked because 3 guys, one you met because you were confused about a crush on a NPC looking guy and your sexuality so you looked for advice online anonymously and found someone that happened to be your age and go to your school then you find him and have a good first funny meeting like you chasing the guy around just trying to talk, they have a meeting spot (roof), they text every night even before the guys fell for MC, had a well paced developing friendship into feelings, shared heart to heart, can really feel seen with each others past experiences, and he’s just overall a good guy like he was aware when he fell for MC he already like someone else so he resisted but still told MC his feelings because unspoken feelings suck so then he got rejected and MC was selfish to ask to be friends because not everyone can do that.
Then we have the childhood friend that you thought rejected you (as kids so not to serious but) and MC even thought he didn’t even really pay attention to him, like he was nothing special, childhood friend moves away yall grow up, you’re in school and a new student, it’s him, pretty normal setup yeah but it’s still better than the guy who doesn’t show any feelings for 50 chapters anyways, find out you actually got him thinking and he didn’t reject you it was just him yk, being young like not everyone thinks about that stuff when you’re so young lol, he apologizes and takes responsibility for what MC said and have a proper response after all those years in quite a cute way (the slide), he then says he wants to get to know MC better, has decent interactions throughout the story not as good as online guy (I’m bad with names) but still good and could’ve developed more maturely.
Then the MC’s crush since the start, doesn’t do literally anything for 50 chapters besides tries to set MC and his female friend up, aswell as rejecting his confession then just like… going on with life letting MC believe he’s getting somewhere and granted he DID but literally when did the story show that as good as the other two. even MC’s orange haired friend makeup argument moment had more emotions and backstory. I’ll refer back to what I said at the start, it was a random chapter where NPC guy and his friend was walking and she just pulled out a damn hypnosis wheel and said “you like the MC” and hes like hell yeah.
then the author puts them all 3 guys against eachother which was inevitable but the MC somehow comes out saying the NPC guy?!? I will say any day Online guy, Childhood friend and even Orange hair straight friend would’ve all had been better ending up with the MC in literally anyway possible, personally I was rooting for online guy but I would’ve been happy with anyone BESIDES NPC guy.

So tired of these guys doing the most selfish bs ever without anything longer than a panel of resolution… he just tried to disappear from your life, thinking about you, hmm? Not at all.
He’s self aware? Wrote he knows what he’s doing is selfish? Glad he knew he’d hurt his feelings the most without even considering his. Everything happening to him like maybe realizing he has feelings, his best friend has loved him, he just lost his best friend because of the feeling he just learned about, coming to terms with his own possible feelings and the walk over the rickety bride from friendship to more
Holy what did this poor boy do to this guy
“He did it cause he loved him and thought it wasn’t reciprocated” HE NEVER SAID HE DIDNT + only told him cause he was leaving, sorry not leaving, just completely ditching the connections that make us human including the one that loves him the most
“Love causes irrational thought” ok true, but what else is true is the love bomb of a confession to ghosting a guy that didn’t reject your love immediately without a second thought, probably cause he only has one that and that was “the boy I love doesn’t love me waa” PUH LEASE
There’s a way to go about self destructive behavior involving feelings and this, this was just bullying of the poor boy in teen angst form and he just forgave him when he didn’t even do a little wrong, like the entire story he accepted his friend confession AMAZINGLY & considered it heavily, he even heard out his request and went along with it cause he knew unresolved emotions are hard
to me it was a tough read, not an emotional growth moment. And rejection is so so much better than feeling like you don’t exist to someone you thought cared about you, even as a friend
