Literally anyone, even his straight friend, would’ve been a better ending for this story. Obviously it’s subjective but I have points to make, the obvious huge one for me is just like, he’s had this crush on a guy that in the story has shown like actually zero interest in him at all even after MC confessed finally, and one random fuckass chapter him and his random friend we see twice (il her though) is walking about and she’s like “you like him obviously go tell him or you’ll regret it” blah blah and he’s BLUSHING like she just shattered his entire world like some philosophical guru heck it would’ve had the same effect if you just looked at him and said “you’re gay for him” which she practically did, you realize he never even showed interest before that chapter and were already at 20 chapters left with two other characters present that have ALOT better story presence and interactions with the MC

Im like actually shocked because 3 guys, one you met because you were confused about a crush on a NPC looking guy and your sexuality so you looked for advice online anonymously and found someone that happened to be your age and go to your school then you find him and have a good first funny meeting like you chasing the guy around just trying to talk, they have a meeting spot (roof), they text every night even before the guys fell for MC, had a well paced developing friendship into feelings, shared heart to heart, can really feel seen with each others past experiences, and he’s just overall a good guy like he was aware when he fell for MC he already like someone else so he resisted but still told MC his feelings because unspoken feelings suck so then he got rejected and MC was selfish to ask to be friends because not everyone can do that.
Then we have the childhood friend that you thought rejected you (as kids so not to serious but) and MC even thought he didn’t even really pay attention to him, like he was nothing special, childhood friend moves away yall grow up, you’re in school and a new student, it’s him, pretty normal setup yeah but it’s still better than the guy who doesn’t show any feelings for 50 chapters anyways, find out you actually got him thinking and he didn’t reject you it was just him yk, being young like not everyone thinks about that stuff when you’re so young lol, he apologizes and takes responsibility for what MC said and have a proper response after all those years in quite a cute way (the slide), he then says he wants to get to know MC better, has decent interactions throughout the story not as good as online guy (I’m bad with names) but still good and could’ve developed more maturely.
Then the MC’s crush since the start, doesn’t do literally anything for 50 chapters besides tries to set MC and his female friend up, aswell as rejecting his confession then just like… going on with life letting MC believe he’s getting somewhere and granted he DID but literally when did the story show that as good as the other two. even MC’s orange haired friend makeup argument moment had more emotions and backstory. I’ll refer back to what I said at the start, it was a random chapter where NPC guy and his friend was walking and she just pulled out a damn hypnosis wheel and said “you like the MC” and hes like hell yeah.

then the author puts them all 3 guys against eachother which was inevitable but the MC somehow comes out saying the NPC guy?!? I will say any day Online guy, Childhood friend and even Orange hair straight friend would’ve all had been better ending up with the MC in literally anyway possible, personally I was rooting for online guy but I would’ve been happy with anyone BESIDES NPC guy.

Wow the psychology aspect of this was just so well done, the whole Maria chapter was brilliantly done on both ends aswell as the chokehold Christianity had on Alan, it was portrayed in a way that was like a dark shadow looming over him and distracting his feelings with what he was taught.

Absolutely tragic ending but dare I say in that moment, not entirely the worst decision, they went through a lot and people have different feelings about death, wether it’s selfish or painful, there’s another light or infinite darkness, but sometimes it’s the better choice in people’s minds when something as tragic, as your whole world, who you’ve just met, is dying right in front of you.
I can understand.

Started reading awhile ago while it was being uploaded and never finished and I just got back to reading it and omg I finished it two days it is crazy how much they make you hate Cirrus for making Skyler feel TERRIBLE but later on you feel so bad for him and understand his conditions mentally/physcally, I’m glad he learned to emotionally mature. And at the end he’s still a little manipulator (the drinking scene at the end ) he never changed and I love that but he will never make anyone he cares about feel terrible again. I couldn’t imagine how Skylar must have felt after realizing the person he’s dating set all of it up including harm to him emotionally using his feelings as a weapon, that included with the scene where cirrus forcefully kissed Skylar I was expecting not to like cirrus at the end, obviously he didn’t know about Skylar’s trauma at the time and didn’t think anything about the kiss but all that matters is FOR SURE he would never do that to Skylar or anyone now.

What kind of perverted people are behind this what the actual hell??
I actually thought it was like a mistranslation and kept rereading it and I STILL thought it was till I read the comments.
Saying they will pass the death threats onto the fictional rapist implying they agree he’s terrible while admitting they were all drooling and hyperventilating of excitement to draw a rape scene is CRAZY

I’ve read this twice now and I can never get over how well this manga goes about living with an illness you have to learn to exist with and overcoming all hurdles. Not Just living with it and navigating your new life but how it affects those around you, and how you are treated differently wether it be with friends, strangers, in school or trying to get a job.
But this also shows that with the right people in your life you can achieve anything a healthy functioning person can, part of living with a illness is thinking you are always going to have a harder time moving forward in life and with that mindset you start victimizing yourself and drown in self pity, but, you can choose to not let it control your life, don’t be ashamed of it and tell people how you do things differently or what accommodations you need to feel your most comfortable. That in itself is hard, you don’t want to be a burden to others, but if they truly care about you they will listen and learn about your struggles and they will be understanding, those that aren’t willing to listen don’t deserve you in their lives.

I think everything about this manga was covered beautifully, from his first love, to finding his first friends and getting through school to find a future that he can fit comfortably in while learning to prioritize not to settle as he wanted to find a place of work that would be understanding of his disability and where he’d have the same level of respect and not be looked down upon just because of some disability.

What’s even better is the part of finding community, he made a friend with similar hardships and experiences in life, thinking you’re struggling with this terrible thing alone and you’re going to have to deal with it for the rest of your life is not sound thinking, it just breeds despair and causes frustration and shutdowns. There are other people out there experiencing the same situations and being faced with the same internal battles over and over again just like yourself, even if your feelings aren’t identical there’s no room to compare when talking about illnesses and people should never say one person is struggling more than the other. Chronic diagnoses are terrible and to be aware of others with similar conditions is to finally feel less alone, no one’s experience is going to be the same we are all struggling here, but the difference between talking to someone about such hardships when they themselves haven’t experienced it compared to someone that is experiencing it is like night and day, they uphold the same care for you and that matters but to know someone has had those exact niche thoughts and experiences makes all the difference, especially how you view yourself and your own illness after that.

Just simply, this story being him finding a place to fit in where people listen was enough to make me SOB multiple times - “Learning to live with this illness is to learn to cope with the ultimate form of loneliness”
