not sure if i understood correctly, but i saw a lot of manhwa w smut tagged with yaoi, while without is tagged with shounen ai so i just assumed yaoi=bl w smut, correct me if im wrong tho! just started reading and google wasn't exactly helpful
well yaoi is the japanese term for bl, which is boy's love. so really, it's more like yaoi (in japanese) = bl (in english). shounen ai is also boys love in japanese (direct translation) but it does have less sexual explicit themes than yaoi. that's what i know. im old, so i think some ppl know it differently?
