It would be funny if it didn't really worked out earlier in the series and Alec just likes him genuinely so he just made this excuse of being under the potion's effects.
What if all along the older brother was the one manipulating everything, like how he made his younger brother aware of him to the point of obsession....
By reading the recent chapters I can feel that the older brother is not interested in other people aside his younger brother, but he still has to act as a normal older brother as a cover from his parents and other people.

Trash seme. Although he had his redemption arc but I still hate his prior attitude of love bombing Shinobu. Then when things didn't go out his way, he didn't take care of himself making Shinobu guilty... If I was younger I would've thought it was heart-throbbing but now it feels really bothersome. Knowing the person who played with your feelings choosing to harm himself just because you don't want anything to do with them. Is just plain manipulative and dirty.
