i think the most logical answer i can come up with is that its a breath of fresh air from heternormative media. when i first came across the yaoi genre i was kinda young and didn't know any better which led to an initial fetishization of yaoi and gay men, but i know better now thanks to learning more about the lgbtq+ community. definitely not a gre......
