It helps me escape reality too, especially with my experience with romance. It's honestly made me a lot more hopeful for my future romantic relationships and has helped me move on from past unrequited love. Also because the care and love these guys show each other just sparks something in me, like not to be fetishizing but it warms up my heart more......

i think the most logical answer i can come up with is that its a breath of fresh air from heternormative media. when i first came across the yaoi genre i was kinda young and didn't know any better which led to an initial fetishization of yaoi and gay men, but i know better now thanks to learning more about the lgbtq+ community. definitely not a gre......
