There's beauty in the agony of devotion that these two shared. The way both MC and ML showed their devotion in clearly such a stark and different way to one another is so beautiful yet maddening how they—unfortunately and also inevitably—would never be able to share a future together due to circumstances.
I won't say much due to the risk of heavy spoilers, but I find it beautiful that this manga ends the way it is. It's ugly, it's sad. It is the way it is. And I'm afraid that there would be no easy way out because it is emphasized from the very start that no matter what, things would end up the way it is. At the end of the chapter, when everything was revealed, I sobbed not only because of how it ends but the implication of what ML did all the way back to the past where the story hasn't even started just to get to this point, was all both for the greater good and for MC himself (at least that's how I see it).
Overall, it's a definite 1000/10 for me. Would I read it again? No I don't think I'm able to take the same agony from reading this story twice. But it's so beautiful that I spend an hour crying towards the end of the manga.
