I know for a fact the people who are mad at this are either extremely privileged or straight. Because as a queer person who lives in a country that is extremely homophobia, i can relate to Jiwon very much. It is hard to come out, especially if your struggle with insecurity.
Yep, it’s frustrating to watch but very very realistic. Coming out is hard no matter what - I had zero doubt that my friends and family would be supportive (and I’m very fortunate for that) and I still felt like I was going to throw up. Not only are they in a more homophobic environment, they’re both in the spotlight so it would essentially be coming out publicly to everyone, not just the people around them. The nation’s grandson and a rising basketball star can’t count on keeping their private life private.
No fr.. I’m Asian so it’s definitely very relatable to me how terrified Jiwon is in this situation. And to see people saying he’s “annoying” or “weak”, tells me a lot about the state of sympathy and critical thinking in this community. It’s really said, especially when other queer people in the comments are being absolute assholes, we get it you were accepted and were very privileged, but unfortunately that’s not how most queer people are treated. Being queer in the eyes of the public is hard, ESPECIALLY SINCE JIWON STRUGGLES WITH ANXIETY?!! It’s like people read this without paying attention to how genuine his fears are. I’m tired of str8 and some queer ppl ignoring the struggles most of us face.
I don’t know how to feel? The start absolutely sucked and many aspects were juts not that great? The orientalism in the story is so gross and weird. But Yona and Al do have a kind of sweet story towards the end I guess. Yona is so pretty and I wish we had more characters that look like him. Pretty guys with long hair eat all the time
