You can totally watch Perfect Blue as well if you haven't), Blue Period (manga), Ballroom e Youkoso (anime or manga. The protagonist is not exactly what you're looking for, if I remember correctly, but there might be other characters who are).

    These are not with artists, but the obsession is there: The Queen's Gambit (TV-show), Challengers (movie), I Tonya (movie), Ping Pong The Animation (anime or manga), The Climber (manga), Hikaru no Go (anime or manga, it doesn't go all out with the trope, but there are some characters who are almost there).
