Is it just me or are straight romance running out of ideas these days... I scroll in tiktok once in awhile for recommendations and it's all villainess or some form of reincarnation manhwa. This trope is milked so much I gen want something new. Not anything in highschool. Not anything CEO. Something new.
i’ve thought abt this, too!! back when villainess tropes were starting out, it was super common to see them be original and unique in their premises while also having that trope be their backboard to stand on but now it’s just gotten so common and muddy that none of them seem that original anymore. it’s like seeing hundreds of snowflakes all swirling around, like yeah they’re all original in the minute but as soon as u zoom out they all look and sound the exact same. i just wish there was more to the stories than just the premise, like character growth that’s not just “i change my mind, i wanna have feelings for the people around me!” yk?
My god I'm so tired of smut in the first chapters of every manhwa. Can't we just a have a normal bl got once without them fucking in the first 10 chapts?? Not even 5-10 but at the 1-3 chapters MOST TIMES!!! Im here for the plot not just for the sex scenes! If I wanted gay porn I would've watched that shit instead. Also what is up with authors adding "oh wait here's a random non-consensual sex for you" and the reason they do that is because "the seme is upset" you don't fuck and force someone to do it cause you're madd?? Sometimes I think authors think readers will get bored unless there is sex every other chapter so they try to introduce sex very early but for most relationships thats not very natural so they try to speed run it through SA. And then they will try to justify it with "you enjoyed it". IT PISSES ME OFF and its very lazy writing
I'd like to believe people like stories for plot and enjoy the occasional spicy times but considering the popularity of smut heavy stories with basic ass plots/characters, I'm starting to suspect people really just be reading for the porn (and when I say popular, I mean stories I keep seeing show up on other socials, not just here on mgg.)
