For my final essay I had to write about the meaning of life as portrayed in media and for one of my examples I used this manhwa. This has gotten that serious for me.
Thanks for asking! I mostly used the last arc for my example. I argued that a life of ascetism will lead to only suffering if it is forced upon someone, as it was for Xin and Tan (though what they went through is more so emotional asceticism than complete asceticism but I digress). Especially in the modern age, outside "worldly" influences will be inevitable ex, Lau teaching Xin about the outside world, that will cause someone to yearn for a life beyond what they have. It's understandable that someone would give up worldly pleasures for enlightenment, but I argued that if you never even had a chance to find out about those pleasures in the first place, you don't really even understand what you're sacrificing comfort for. For my other examples, I used Siddartha (the novel) and Everything Everywhere All at Once.
