I think ml doesn’t deserve so much hate. He clearly has abandonment issues, didn’t have one stable connection throughout his life. At first he wants to protect mc, then mc shows him loyalty and looks up to him, ml’s protective instinct turns into full blown obsession. He’s terrified of being abandoned again, that’s why he tiptoes around the mc, going as far as damaging his health by taking suppressants. Mc never seems to be giving him sense of stability, always pulling back. Also for ml sexual relationships isn’t that deep and he is in as long as it feels good, so this situation is win win for him, he gets to keep this connection and gets to have a good time lol.
