I get that (tho I don't know why it should get messy haha) but I feel like being RIVALS IN LOVE is way messier because they don't actually agree to a poly relationship, they wish they could get the bottom for themselves but the bottom love them both and so they settle on a pseudo-poly relationship (that's how I interpreted it but I may be wrong and actually I really hope that I'm proved wrong in second season)
