Ian is clearly attached to TJ: they've been through so much, TJ is part of him. It's like a destructive first love, the greater the love (obsession ?) the more they hurt each other, especially when we see what TJ did to Ian to keep him by his side. Jo can offer Ian a new, more classic life, something he has never known. But the more the story progresses, the more we see that Jo thinks of himself first saying the feeling he has is not pure and “I know clearly what I want”. I have the impression that Ian is just repeating his old relationship with TJ but with Jo this time, like a cycle. TJ has matured, regrets his choices and finally decided to let Ian go (at least I think so) while Jo is clearly obsessed with Ian as TJ was when he was young. Anyway, I think Ian needs to end up alone to think a little LOL
