hear me out. i actually think that furiana is an interesting character. while she's the typical two-faced "og" FL trope, she's pretty self-aware and intelligent. she's very human in the sense that she genuinely cares about her brother and in that she's flawed. she genuinely sees ruby as a threat because ruby "took" her place, which she invested a lot of effort to get. also, when monsters were breaking loose and ruby and gang were running in the opposite direction as to everyone else who were evacuating, furiana goes "well i'm running away because i actually love myself!"

albeit she's a simple character, idk i think she's interesting and i can't rlly hate her.

the twist that annette was actually the "beloved oppressor" to heiner was lowkey masterful. i appreciate how it was the musical piece that carried/represented the title of this manhwa. annette herself didn't oppress heiner but her music, which also symbolized heiner's obsession and highly romanticized image of her. just a really good callback to sthn so central to their (and especially heiner's) journey throughout the story.

i also love that this twist didn't diminish annette's suffering at all and the shit that heiner did to her. they were each other's beloved oppressor in dichotomous but tragic ways.

this manhwa definitely had its flaws but it's probably one of the first in its genre to have so much nuance and touch on the realistic aspects/ consequences of war. ALSO the main couple didn't get back together in the end!! that's actually so huge and refreshing, idc if they attempt dating again in the side stories. i applaud this author.

imo the budding romance between jiwoo and jiyoung is a refreshing one especially in this genre. i'm seeing a lot of comparisons with the romance in solo leveling but in terms of writing, idt SL can even compare. jiwoo and jiyoung's relationship has sm mutual support, respect, and admiration that rlly make up for their lack of immediate chemistry which a lot of authors aim for in their writing.

i love that instead of the excessive pining typical to this genre (which is usually one-sided and the ML is almost always on the receiving end), neither jiwoo or jiyoung bend their personalities for each other. they acknowledge that they are both very strong in their own rights and so they don't go over each other's boundaries. idk how to explain it very well but TLDR: i'm looking forward to their romance! HAHSHAHSSH
