from what i know (iirc) kim dan has always been an alcoholic, but he definitely got better working for jjk the first time and then relapses and gets worse after quitting

guys……i get it now. hong ki-hoon’s love is self sacrificial, and lee yeon wishes he would’ve been at least be selfish enough to care about himself because he loves him. that’s why hong ki-hoon doesn’t care that he got hurt, he’s been avoiding lee yeon even though he loves him too so much (ie hospital scene- he wasn’t worried about losing the soccer scholarship but he was glad that lee yeon wasn’t with him when he got ran over). lee yeon is confused because hong ki-hoon shows him that he likes him too obviously but then pulls back bc if he admits it, lee yeon might get hurt bc of his “curse”. that’s why he’s been dropping signals so that lee yeon can get the hint that hong ki-hoon is literally so in love with this dude he can die for him (and probably did in a past life), without admitting it explicitly so the curse doesn’t take him away. hong ki-hoon is literally stupid for everything except for lee yeon & his god forsaken athletic ability, he’s so obsessed with him LOL.
so basically- in a past life baby lee yeon & hong ki-hoon met bc hong ki-hoon found baby lee yeon lost looking for berries for his mom. he liked him so much that he voluntarily went into training to be his retainer & marry him. when his parents told him that he couldn’t get married to a man, lee yeon was sad & overheard a way to be together. he tries to tie him & hong ki-hoon with the string of fate to keep them together, erasing the good luck hong ki-hoon has. so hong ki-hoon attracts bad luck, but he wasn’t aware that it affected things he loved. he loved lee yeon, so he was taken away by snake looking ass. in that time the bad luck was centered on him bc he’s been away from lee yeon for a while, so he kept getting hurt which was fine for him bc it was all for lee yeon (or maybe he didn’t know he even had bad luck at all). training and getting beat up was worth it to lee yeon, and baby lee yeon’s currently mad bc hong ki-hoon is doing all this for him and the one time he tries to help he fails.
ALSO. THIS IS WHAT I THINK HAPPENED.
lee yeon is begging hong ki-hoon to think about himself and stop sacrificing himself for lee yeon, so that way he can protect hong ki-hoon too. hong ki-hoon is just more athletic & so fucking obsessed with lee yeon that he would sacrifice his life to protect him (which is why he’s okay with being hurt all the time bc at least lee yeon is safe). AND THE ONE TIME LEE YEON PROTECTS HIM SUCCESSFULLY IS WHEN HE GETS SHOT BY THE ARROWS. and hong ki-hoon is traumatized and never wants lee yeon to get hurt again because of him
ALSO IF YOU LOOK AT CHAPTER 26 HONG KI-HOON REMEMBERED HOW LEE YEON DIED IN THE PAST SO HE TELLS LEE YEON TO NEVER SAY THAT SHIT AGAIN. hong ki-hoon doesn’t trust lee yeon (he is his princess <3) and his athletic abilities bc he literally died in front of him lol.
