Actually here's context about her.
- she stole someone's identity (timeline here is wonky? In her first life she's adopted by a single mother and daughter. The mother dies and the daughter is told to bring a necklace (?) and letter to the high priest Lyell (or what position he was in at that time) but Avelin is kind hearted and doesn't want to rely on her father because again she's an illegitimate? In a way that she's a result of a priest and nun. (Yes this is the maid and that's why she can read ancient language)
ATP she's really insecure and really thirsty for power.
(Either flashback ends or i just got things mixed-up)
So in her second life
She just straights up kills the mom and daughter by setting their house on fire (which is weird because again the Selene/Avelin is the maid that Asha saves/adopts)
So I'm guessing the daughter escaped and got amnesia
Since she can't marry the emperor and can't make him fall in love with her. The demon just puts a curse on Asha. BUT!! Because of the Necklace they bought was real and has the goddess' power Asha was able to avoid dying cause of the curse.
So the demon told her to do something and steal the necklace.
She's a great pick pocket and she did so.
Big mistake, Selene sees her and notices immediately.
This makes Scarlett(fake "saint"), faint as if she sees a ghost because technically she did try to kill the real Avelin/Selene.
With enough evidence, she got the death penalty. Big mistake
