calling a victim "irritating" is so wild im speechless
media literacy is so dead

I mean he could be a victim for all I care, I don't find him likable.
He acts in a way that it's so irritating to me, that I can't really sympathize with his circumstances anymore.
If someone is a victim, we should like them? Is that what you mean?

I don't mean that he is irritating because he is acting like a victim.
I just find his way of being not likable. x)

I'm reading this "Love is an Illusion! - Superstar" because I like the main couple.
I couldn't finish "Love is an Illusion!" because I didn't like the main couple and their dynamic. That's all I was saying. x)

and sorry if i sounded a bit mean in my last reply omg, i just really love hyesung, my boy did nothing wrong

but since i now know you actually didn't read all of the first story, i'll lay out why calling hyesung irritating is a bit ignorant.

hyesung, by the time he was 20 years old:
- escaped his abusive father's house
- became homeless + couldn't graduate hs as a result
- recently discovered he was actually an omega cause an alpha more than 5 years older than him (dojin) assaulted him
- could not be employed because he was now an omega so he no longer had a way to survive by himself
- now had to consider the possibility of being assaulted
- was almost trafficked because he had his naivety and desperation to have his old life living as an alpha back get taken advantage of
- got saved by the alpha that assaulted him and became indebted to him
- was faced with the illusion of choice when that alpha offered him to stay at his house (its an illusion of choice because it was either he actually survive by taking dojins offer or living with kyungsoo where his creepy alpha roommate also lived or denying both and living on the streets. there's clearly a better option)
- continued to have his heat get taken advantage of by that alpha
- got pregnant by that alpha even though he was only 19 + uneducated + unemployed
- entered a contractual relationship with that alpha because he thought that was the only way he could survive
- found out he was being bribed into being baby-trapped all throughout his pregnancy so he tried to run away even forgetting about the pay he was promised (which he overheard when he was trying to see his baby)
- almost died because he had unknowingly bonded with the alpha that got him pregnant
- now had no choice but to go back to being with the alpha because otherwise he would literally die (but he cared about his baby)
- ultimately got BOND-TRAPPED into being with the most red-flag/toxic/possessive alpha known to mankind

calling hyesung "irritating" has this underlying implication (read: IMPLICATION) that the anger he showed throughout the series (because throughout LIAI, that was what his character mainly showed, im guessing that is what you don't like about him, BUT CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG!!) was unjustified and dramatic. it's a discouraging way to describe him, since the largest part for why he acts that way is because he was let down so many times by everyone, and yet, ended up being one of the most compassionate characters. the people around him just keep disrespecting him :(

but yes, we both agree that hyesung and dojin should not be a couple lol, THAT UGLY AHH BOND NEEDS TO BE BROKEN SO HE CAN DIVORCE HIM

Love Is An Illusion is rated at 9.4 and is tagged as "romance" and as "smut".
Because let's call it what it is, porn with "plot". Even if it is anecdotic at this point.
I tried reading "Love Is An Illusion" back in 2018 when it first started releasing here.

"Yaoi" was mostly porn. And "Shounen ai", was mostly about telling a romance story. I mean people don't focus on the plot much in porn. It was like seeking to experience a fantasy, at least back then it wasn't taken as seriously as now. (I'm not saying it was okay back then) (and of course there are exceptions, not all yaoi is porn witout plot...)

You're roughtly describing the potline of all the old yaoi/boyslove mangas: Uke was straight, got assaulted by the seme, then fell in love and they lived happily ever after. (obviously I know, not all the old mangas aren't like that but many are, and even recent smut-oriented ones still have this trope.)
I'm saying compared to this one, it's roughly the same, you just change the "straight" part to "being an alpha", etc.

I'm not saying this is a good thing, or a good story trope, but most authors replicate this formula because it sells/sold well. It doesn't go any deeper than that.

And for having come across a bunch of them, reading hyesung was just annoying. So I stopped and came back recently only for the spin off. I like the spin off, and I'm thankful they don't spend much time rehashing the parent's "romance".

So I just got a bit confused when everyone was focusing only hyesung in the comment section of the last chapters, while it isn't even his story, and the fact that I don't sympathize with him that much.

But yes, I agree with you, if I was reading a normal story with the plot you just explaned, I would be frustrated that they ended up together and blow up my shit.
But since even the author doesn't give a fuck about his own character (hyesung), and chose such a conclusion, I don't want to give it much importance as well. I just hate the story and all its characters since, for me, they come in a package. :p

yeahh i also remember people not being on hyesungs side back then. the majority also thought he was annoying back in 2020, when i first began reading it. there were still a handful of people who understood how wrong it was back then too tho (ive been a dodgyin h8er since day 1). but idk why, hyesung hate was so bad up until even 2021.

but yes, sadly, whats in demand will always take precedence over what is right, and unfortunately back then it was this.

things have gotten better for omegaverse since then tho, and more and more abo works are beginning to discard the rapey plotline (though arguably there are works that are not abo that have shown it has become much worse ).

i think that is probably why we expect as much from fargo too – we hope for fargo's writing to have improved as much as her art has (which by now, ig we shouldnt lol). so its sad to see that fargo decided to dig up hyesung's old story to drive byuls romance with siwoo forward. it was unnecessary and truly just shows a complete disregard for hyesung's character.

really ig you could just chalk it up to bad writing lmao, if fargo really goes thru with repairing hyesung and his egg donors relationship (which it does seem like she intends to do unfortunately), i'll pretend it never happened and just focus on byul and siwoo like you
