Any story where it's revealed the reason why the MC's parent (almost always the father for some reason??) acted like they hated them was just to protect them. I see this all the time in transmigration / rebirth stories where the author tries to make the twist 'your dad never hated you, he was secretly always looking out for you' and I almost alway......
