I empathize with her having to meet someone so gifted surpass your effort, but with how the girl was teaching her, it’s sad that she can’t put her pride away. I learned that when someone knows something better than you, rather than wallowing in insecurity and self-pity, it’s better to learn from that person. There are just some things you just can’t beat from the get go, so girlie learn what you can !! Not everything is a contest, sometimes knowledge is just knowledge—it’s something shared among people.
And also, maybe I’m just too thick-faced: if the guy is so loaded he can afford to give her a separate card, i’d say take a loan from him. It depends on their relationship, clearly guy is not weird about money. If you want your dreams so much and care about your sick mom, borrow money and pay him back when you get your job.
