Saw this on my front page, thought I was wrong, but I was unfortunately right… I don’t read this type of shit, but tell me why ugly is apparently;
One micro shade darker skin
No foundation
Freckles
Hair in a bun
Literally her face looks fine. The structure is perfectly normal- The only thing this is saying is;
You must be paper white, you must not have freckles, you must cover your entire face in makeup, and you must always have perfect styled hair.
Bruh.
It was also the brightly colored eyed shadow and mismatched lipstick. The messy hairstyles. And the over the top gaudy outfits.
Ngl, this sounds like trying to justify the blatant colorism / racism going on here bro.

With all respect, it does seem like justification. I say how the “ugly” aspects are about factors no one should feel shamed about, then they bring up “Bad makeup, bad outfits, bad hair”. This seems more like they’re trying to suggest “oh it’s not just what you said, it’s actually all of these reasons”
But I believe that is blatant ignorance to the fact that the content, even if the outfits are “gaudy” or the makeup is “mismatched” or too colorful, includes a slightly darker skin shade as being ugly compared to the paper white tone she is when apparently “beautiful”. Trying to list the other details even while what is included is at the very least, colorism.
I don’t believe that they were trying to agree, I think they were making a point against my comment. If they weren’t, then poorly worded I suppose, but instead of clarifying, you have the reply they gave above.
But like I said, complete respect to you, hope I didn’t come off aggressive! I can always be wrong of course.
I understand where you're coming from, it does look like they're trying to downplay the racism/colorism, because you're talking about her featuresand how they find being tanned, having freckles and not wearing makeup and they are trying to shift it, but I feel like them bringing up the fact that it was also her makeup and her hair that they didn't like doesn't sound like justifying racism/colorism to me.
and this is just an assumption but I haven't read it and I think you haven't either, the person who replied has probably read it and is saying the reason why they didn't like her was because of her features/the way she looked and the way she dressed. In the manhwa they probably have a beauty standard and she didn't fit into those standards because of those reasons.
Beauty standards are just weird to me idk why people have to look a certain way to be considered pretty.
