Hmm interesting, I think this is expanding on the novel? From what I recall, the novel was VERY short (like 25-30 chapters I think?) and ended with her talking to the foreign prince at the ball and then timeskipping to a few paragraphs saying she was studying abroad and her fiancé had followed her there, still struggling to win her affections.
