Personally I still like Adele quite a lot. I don't think she is acting like a child nor is she unreasonable. I can see why she made the decision to leave. She has confessed her love to the Duke on more than one occasion and each time the duke was unable to confess back. She is bound to be at least a little bit uncertain and unsure. I magine asking your fiance if he loves you and he can't answer will put second thoughts in anyones mind. Is what she is doing manipulative? Eh, maybe a little, depents on how you want to see it... But consider the fact that she has had an open and straightforward convestation with the Duke several times with little results. What she want at this point is for the Duke to take action on his own. She wants him to chase after her and work to earn her affection. Ultimatly she isn't forcing him to do something against his will. The choise on what to do and how to proceed still largly depend on him, if he is willing to properly confess his feelings to Adele then they will get married if not then they won't. Adele is not willing to settle for a man who may not love her the same way she loves him and that's fair. If a relatinship is unfulfilling then we shouldn't settle for someone who can't make us happy.

On top of that there are malicious rumors that the Duke is marrying her because he is being forced by the crown prince or that she seduced or manipulated him. The two of them have been engaged for a little more than a month, two months at most from what I remember and already she's had to deal with two women who would go as far as to try and murder her. Anne was straight up delusional. Susan was after the position of Duchess and she made several attempts against Adele's life. They won't be the only ones having such thoughts and goals and by letting the rumors persist and people believe that the Duke is not sincerly in love with Adele there will be many more who will attempt to drive Adele away, hoping to take her place. If the Duke declared his love for Adele in a grant and public manner then most of the rumors will be laid to rest and many people will be dissuaded from messing with Adele and trying to get rid of her.

Now here are my thought on Adele as a character. I must admit that from the begining my expectation weren't high, I've read enough stories of this type to know what to expect. So Adele wasn't, to me at least, a disapointing character. She was good and well written and the story was enjoyable. I think that some of the comments have been a little unfair towards her. She didn't come off to me as a quirky and "Not Like Other Girls" type.

My own interpretation of the quirky girl is a girl whose style, personality, beliefs and desires are completely different from other women and from her society and and who can come off as weird and/or strange. Adele isn't like that. Her style follows the fashion, her buying second hand clothes and fixing them to mach the current trends isn't something that is meant to show how special and "quirky" she is, it's a product of her family's circumstances and economical struggles. Her actions and general behaviour are not too different from what her society is expecting from her. Sure she has a energetic personality and confidence in herself but she acts in a manner that is considered socialy acceptable. Her action are more urestrained when she is around her family and close friends or when she is comletely alone but I'd say that is normal and everyone is like that. But she acts in accordance to her society's expectations of her, she dresses like the women around her, she doesn't do anything that is radicaly different from her society and the world in wich she lives. Yes she is a very smart woman and a good manipulator but she isn't the only one. Yulia herself is a proper lady who is also a very brave woman. And Susan was also a good manipulator. What some consider quirky behaviour is just Adele be her own person and I guess that does make her different from everyone else.

I find the "not like other girls" logic to be extremly damaging and unfair to women. It creates the illution that all women are the same and so we have to be that one woman who can be "different" and "not like othe women". It ignores the reality that we are all different and that we are our own person. Adele is not like other women not because all other women are the same and she is the only one who is special but for the simple reason that Adele is Adele. She isn't Yulia or Susan or me. She is herself in the same way that I am me and you are you. No woman is like other women, even those who may seem to fall into that generic category are their own person with their own thought and feelings and I guess their own quirks. Adele is not a perfect character but she isn't a bad one ether.

My feeling for Susan are mixed. She was indeed a cunning and manipulative woman but she ended up less dangerous and challeging that what I expected. Because of that I was a bit disapointed with her but at the same time I can see why her schemes failed. Susan was in the end in an unknown world that was completely different from hers. Adele was reborn into a noble family with a readymade position in high society, had more than enough time to learn about the world she was reborn in and get used to her life there. Susan didn't have that luxury. She transmigrated sudenly in a time when her life was a mess and in a momment of great distress for her. She mentions having a hard life and things only got better when she became a succeful actress, something she achived by sleeping with and manipulating men. I can see why under these circumstances she acted the way she did. Her actions cannot be excused but I like that she wasn't evil for the sake of being evil. I think the reasons she failed were because she kept underestimating everyone around her and overestimating herself, she lacked knowledge of the world and the kingdom in wich she had transmigrated and lastly because she was too greedy. What dissapointed me was how she seemed to lack patience. I think she was a little delusional too, not to the same point as Anne, but she definately had expectation that were different from reality and her actions were at time a little eratic at times. I undersand why the took so long to deal with her. They wanted to copletely get rid of her in a way that would damage the crown prince and at the same time take care of those backing her. Susan was ultimately a pawn and the moment she lost her backers she lost her power. I guess my only complain is that she succeeded in nothing, I would have liked for her do succeed at least once against Adele.

I don't have any special feelings for the Duke, he was ok. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I don't think he fell in love with Adele just because, he clearly enjoys her company, appreciates her energetic, confident character and smart and cunning personality and also finds her atrractive. All in all they were two people who met under certain circumstances, liked each other, grew close with time and fell in love. Nothing overly comlicated and the one problem in their relationship will probably be resolved in the following chapters. It's a simple romance without many ups and downs and I appreciated that. It was a big part of the story but not the focus of it and not the sousce of conflict.

Anne, was comletely delusional. That was pretty clear. Her ending is her own fault, Adele didn't scheme against her and didn't target her in any way. Like the Duke I have no special feelings towards her she was meh.

Ouff, I ended up ranting a bit, hehe. These are my thought and interpretations of some of the characters. Thanks to anyone who read this comment till the end, sorry for any mistakes I made while writing it.
