I think i figured out why he wanted those things specifically. The people who showed him an item that was gifted/given to them, all had a personal and human connection to that item. A marriage ring, a lighter from a son, an item from a father, a pen that was a gift from parents. They all symbolize a connection to someone else, something the lawyer is obviously lacking. His friend showed him his item but the lawyer wasnt fixated on the item until his friend mentioned it was a gift from his father. So really, i dont think its the items specifically he wants but what they symbolize and stand for. human connections and a deep bond with someone else. Probably because he is a psychopath and cant feel these things he naturally is inclinced to want them and expresses in a materialistic way.
I think the fact that he has no memories and all these issues with nightmares etc. And now even the fact that his view of guwon is turned upside down, his brain tries to fill the holes of his memories with plausible explanations, even if they might he wrong. Because clearly the man on the ground is not his father, as its the same person from ep 1 who wanted to end mc. All of this just makes me want to believe that the mc is an unreliable narrator and we can't take his views as fact.
Omg loved this theory
Ooh. I like this. Reminds me of a short I read where a guy wakes up in a post apocalyptic world and thinks he’s being held hostage, then finally gets his memory back and realizes what was really going on. The guy “holding him hostage” was a bit like Guwon in the sense he wasn’t quite right in the head.
I honestly think that’s what’s happening here. It’s either than or im trying to smoke mad copium

Wait a minute … I thought that was the story you were referring to?!
I misread your comment and thought you were suggesting something like what I described. I hadn’t even clicked the link yet. I couldn’t remember the name of the story, but after clicking the link, yes that is the same story.
Wait different comment. I think I just confused myself responding to too many different things. Yes, that is the right story, but I haven’t read the side stories yet. I definitely will now.
Totally get it, I first thought someone else wanted to add the story to their list and then I saw it was by you so I was like? Hahaha
