I think there is no right or wrong way to navigate this situation. Some people would prefer to have the right to out themselves, some people would prefer not to be kept in the dark. Chae Heon and Jeongyoon’s sister decided the best thing for him is to keep him in the dark. Partly because they’re overprotective of him. Partly because they want to give him that right.

I think what Chae Heon said about not wanting Jeongyoon to be uncomfortable about inviting him over, sums up their decision. It’s inevitable that Jeongyoon’s relationship with his family will shift if they bring it up, whether or not they support him. Maybe one day Chae Heon and Jeongyoon will break up, and he might meet with other guys in the future. I think Jeongyoon’s family doesn’t want him to be conscious of them over things like that, so they want to wait until he’s ready to tell them. After all, he is only moving in with a friend, on the surface. And in the event of a breakup, he could comfortably return to his family knowing they won’t ask him questions. Even if Jeongyoon’s family are comfortable about his sexuality, it doesn’t mean Jeongyoon is comfortable about them knowing. I think it’s important to Jeongyoon’s family that he’s comfortable around them in his own home.

And to be honest, I think if you’re close enough as family, you would know what your sibling would want. Knowing Jeongyoon’s character, when he finds out later about them knowing all along, he would probably beat himself up for not realising it sooner than he would get mad at Chae Heon and his family.
