Basically, for the entire saving the second prince saga, our female lead has been controlled by the goddess and also known as the first empress of the empire. Her initial advances to save the second prince was merely the manipulation of the goddess. In the process, the female lead fell in love with the second prince. So, when she wasn't supposed to save the second prince like the goddess wanted, she actually did by taking the arrow to her back.
Why was the goddess doing what she was doing? Well, it was because of her scummy first emperor, husband, and now ghost who faints ignorance to other ghosts. From his wife/first empress/goddess, he can gain three wishes. One of the wishes he made was to have basically a perfect heir who can rule the empire. But the downside is that the perfect heir would cause misfortune to everyone he loves and his siblings. That scummy man somehow ended up hating his kids ┑(￣Д ￣)┍, but the third one went to the hands of the sorcerer nation, Vsomething. These three wishes have some kind of time limit due to the last wish never being made. The curse that the first two wishes created could be broken in a way. It was kinda a bet between the first emperor and the first empress/goddess.
Okay, coming back. (づ￣ ³￣)づ So, basically, due to the curse, everyone in the empire is under the influence of this obedience spell casted by the goddess. It kinda goes on and on for generations. The most affected are the perfect heir's siblings and loved ones. They are called sacrifices. The female lead ended up escaping this fate due to a loophole. She kinda took an arrow for the second prince and managed to make that the sacrifice, and her sacrifice status is off and she is no longer being controlled. So, the sacrifice doesn't necessarily mean death. The overseeing force for the sacrifice is a supernatural force of fate. Fate is kinda dumb ╮(￣▽￣)╭, so if you don't make it obvious, it won't know that the female lead went for the loophole. So, female lead can't tell second prince because fate is kinda attached to that dude. Basically, she can still be lovey dovey with the prince but the man is in the dark and angst for a bit more time. (￣∇￣") I feel that man... he loved this female lead since his first meeting and even made her into a secret deity in his heart. (〜￣△￣)〜Anyways.... it leads to our female lead searching for the way to break the curse with the hint given by the goddess when she was unconscious after taking the arrow for her darling prince. The hint was basically the sea and the sorcerer nation.... Vsomething.... sorry, bad with names. (￣∇￣") My opinion is that it has something to do with the third child of the first empress and also the dude that is the third prince of the Vsomething nation. Maybe the female lead could be the next generation goddess and make the third wish come true. Anyways.... currently chapter 110 (▰˘◡˘▰)

One thought he was 100% for revenge but failed due to lingering past feelings conflicting with the humiliation he experienced without the seme's protection. Basically, he was given hope in that whore house, but turned out that he actually fell to the depths of hell from an even higher place due to inflated hope. Now, it's either he has enough power or tricks behind his sleeve to make put seme inside his revenge game.
The other one thought he was 100% cold gangsta who see everyone as tools that can or cannot be used. But turned out he was 100% raging gay for his mentor/hyung.
