And as some people mentioned, this exhaustion, coldness, oddness at times, mixed messages, I think that’s because he doesn’t know how to be ‘human’. He’s going through things for what seems like the first time.
He knows a certain set of rules, and has made it his duty to ensure they’re kept for the safety of everyone else, so that, like in this instance, people don’t get hurt. It’s literally like a hound puppy being trained. So when something does go wrong, even by others fault, he (though not openly emotionally) takes a blame. That’s what I’m getting so far from this

I love how this MC isnt being pushed as the ‘super weak’ or just ‘really miserable and needy’ uke trope that tries to force people to feel bad, but that he’s genuinely working hard to get out of his situation. Idk wtf people are talking about parallel universes. Time passed in the other world, different than it did his real world which is why the ML looks older: he IS older. He probably thinks the MC is some fake or illusion or trick bc he hadn’t seen him in so long, or the MC was thought to be dead.
