Bruh. I had a feeling reading midway that I've already read this, but continued anyway since I don't at all remember what happens. Now that I've finished it (again?), I now know why it has been wiped from my memory.

It bugs me but her grandfather's way of showing love towards her seems so superficial apart from that one hug scene. He is genuine but fails to express real affection when she needs it throughout her childhood (esp when her mother was still alive).
I don't understand how the people he looked after, who were told to look after her in his stead, didn't like how she didnt appreciate and reciprocate his care when she literally has no idea what he has provided for her. Her grandfather's lack of interactions with her doesn't help, and it could be either party's fault, dunno. You can't just buy your way through love, yk?
FL had a 12 turning 13 year old fiance, supposedly when she was 22? (She mentioned 5 years in the palace.) Then decides to raise a child... who turns out isn't one but a demon older than her and is the ML yada yada, whatever.
You can argue that it's woke of me to judge but like damn, this combination raises some eyebrows when thinking about the author's preferences... I'm mostly all for age gaps so long as they're legal adults, but the premise (fiance part) literally could be anything else and it wouldnt change a thing lol? And she watched ML grow up... Granted it was only like half a year but yuck, not for me. Sick of these "not a groomer shes a late bloomer", sue me.
Why am I reading this here lol I have the actual physical books. Anyways, I remember reading the manga first, and then watching the anime and the sequel. Although the manga came later, and was an adaptation of the anime to promote it.
Believe me, I was sooo petty cause it was obvious the show favoured Fine, especially in the sequel. Tsk. They even had promotional art with sth like tarot cards? Showing Fine as the "Sun" and Rein as the "Star".
I was glad Rein has more screentime in the manga and is able to show off her personality more. At some point, she turned into like an accessory... not an equal, and her relationship with Bright was just.. not established? Def underdeveloped but it might just be my bias and my memory lol. It has been well over 10 years by now...
