The military background: from what i gathered, Joohwan kissed Sihyun during the military. They both liked it. Sihyun punched Joohwan at one point and I think it made it lose memory of everything that happened before it. So now Joohwan only remembers being punched, thinks Sihyun hated him and that’s why he avoided him and why he was very tense the first time they met.
Sihyun on the other hand doesn’t know this. He thinks Joohwan used him and left him.

Author is attempting to redeem kidnapped/r*pist ML by making him the lesser evil who saved MC from the toxic delulu second ML who is really bad at separating the couple.
Also getting MC fall more and more in Stockholm syndrome hole by guilt trapping him with the fact the bomb that ML became deviant because MC left him.
