My guesses are: Bada was either a character all along, never a real person or this is a Don't worry, darling situation, because Doha doesn't seem that worried at all about him "leaving". And it's certainly not just because he's sabotaging he's progress, because if he was really just an NPC who got conscious he would be just as lost as Bada.
