Tldr: society prevents rebecca from being who she is and the yuri route :/
I feel like there was definitely more to when Arth said "because of the era that they were born into, ome personlost the one that they loved, and another gained the one that they loved."
My initial thought was that Rebecca lost the love that she had for the prince and Arth gained Sasha's love by getting engaged to her so she wouldn't be forced to marry. But with the most recent chapter, i think that it could mean the rigid societal norms which excluded non-heterosexual relationships. Arth and Rebecca both see Sasha as someone they love. When both of them were on the boat, they both seem to have an understanding of the restraints that society places on them.
No matter how much Rebecca succeeds, she will never be considered as sucessful as a man, which is constantly reminded when Rebecca keeps wondering what life would be like if she were a man. Furthermore, when refecting on this question, in ch 56 Sasha (jokingly) claims that if Rebecca had been a man then Rebecca would be too busy with another woman in which Rebecca replies with, "Do you really think that?" implying that that would not have been the case. This shows that Rebecca's love for Sasha is stronger than a friendship and more intimate than we were initially led to believe.
All procrastination induced analysis aside, I hope that the ending is a lot more open to the four of them (including naska) staying together as a family of sorts.
[as much as i can see this as a yuri, given the premise that the author set this definitely falls into the storyline :( i just hope that there'll be a happy ending for all of them]
