I think it would be nice if the mangaka will do something similar like Sayonara, Alpha. The couple there are also grade school (?) and senior high school. They separated and eventually got back together after the ML got in college. Like, the ML and MC are out of touch.
I would like for Tsubaki to also grow up before being together with Yuu. Since little they are together so having space would allow them to have time to consider if they genuinely like each other. Maybe it's just teenage crush or mistaken affection.
