That's what I'm saying, you can't use the "historically accurate" shield to reflect all criticism people have. The story may be based on old timey shit, but ultimately it's a modern story about characters who have shown modern moral standards. If a person wants to hold it to the standards of history but only use the argument towards a single aspect of it then they are just justifying their bias.
Well to be fair if a person wants to make a story where a teen falls in love with an adult then it's up to them to decide where it goes from there. If you want to normalise it in your fantasy world and glorify it, then you do you. You'll just have to understand that other people will and should absolutely drag your ass through the coals. Like did the author have to make ALL romantic leads at leats five years older than her? Absolutely not. The story would still be the same of they were all around the same age. There absolutely were other ways to lead Lumen's character in a way where their age would be closer.

Honestly ml gives me the whole 365 days kinda vibe, he is toxic, manipulative, has an unhealthy obsession with mc and uses his powers to literally kidnap mc.
I feel like the MC has lost most of his original personality? It's not blatantly obvious but I feel like he used to be more shrewd and clever than this, he used to push the plot but now it seems like the plot is just dragging him around like a ragdoll, he is literally going from a country to another just to be played around by the seme who apparently just knows every piece of information and plot point they need to solve this whole situation, btw the seme is such an asshole, he says that he is not making the son pay for his father's sins but he still drugs him, rapes him, uses him for his own gain, traps him in a contractual hell and threatens his friend. like be for real man.
Also the power imbalance is just so absolutely staggering between them that I can't imagine the uke ever being happy in their relationship, they can't afford to trust eachother and yet you want me to cheer for their "love"? The ml can simply do whatever he wants to MC, there is no mutualism in this.

I'm so happy very rarely do I find sane bl enjoyers. I found it so weird that MC all the sudden loses sense with seme ever since he got on the Cruise. I really dislike it when authors are so inconsistent with their characters personalities or design. It's also just really disappointing because I was hoping for a smart and thorough planning MC. Like for example why was he scared of seme after he lied about knowing that one guy at the illegal gambling ring. What does he have to be scared about it just doesn't make sense.
I've read the spoilers and all I can say is godspeed to the people who read this, but I'm jumping out, I know this is a redeem story for the seme but man, just reading what the uke went through because of him and the people around him... And now we see him falling in love with his "past" abuser... Yikers
And the way ml treats MC feels yucky too, it feels like his atonement is more a search for redemption than a sincere attempt to make up for his past mistakes, it doesn't really feel like love but a race to get to the end, the prize being tje forgiveness of someone who doesn't even remenber the past. On that note the ML doesn't even attempt to explain the situation to MC! He is being so cryptic yet so blatantly obvious!
