I believe the author knows what they're doing. My boy dan is portraying the abused one in a abusive relationship realistically. The way he slowly accepts the abuse and think its normal, how he romanticize that ahole, how he gaslights himself by defending that ahole and being thankful of things he does that is even below bare minimum.
I just wish that the author also know that we might not root the seme at all cause he seems like a lost cause.
Ps. I love how we're all hoping for his defeat. He needs a quick reality kick that he's not as relevant as he think he is to the point where he can be an ahole anytime. Praying that my boy dan leaves him
