Yes, it starts out very slow and seems one dimensional, HOWEVER! It does pick up and really grows on some heavy topics later down the line (currently released up to chapter 155).
Two of the obvious topics covered fairly early on is weight/body dysmorphia for our female lead as well as sexual/child assault when it comes to the father’s past trauma. Which I do think is very well dealt with as neither character or others fully overcome these heavy topics immediately and it still in some ways comes up on occasion as a lot of real-world trauma does.
There’s also some different subjects such as: gender roles, sexism, racism, homophobia, sexuality, loneliness, domestic/familial violence, government responsibility, ect. All of these topics I believe are covered respectfully and responsibility in this series without seeming out of place and quite natural to come up in the setting. In this way it really expands the work and world and makes it all the more believable. It makes me love the characters and their struggles and I constantly root for them to be better people. Redeemable people, even if that redemption is hard and difficult.
And yes, it does start out like most of this archetype of “reincarnated villainess” in the genre. But it’s very refreshing that the author doesn’t shy away from important topics that a modern person WOULD bring up when put in this world, yet have those very same problems.
Anyways, to conclude my rant, as someone that reads an ungodly amount of villainess stories, binging this one surprised me the more I read. I was very surprised and touched by the varied important aspects this story presented in a way that was weighted in - for the most part because it IS still fantasy - realism. Definitely a good palette cleanser for the reader that wants to love a group of characters with a little more depth!
(P.s I totally ship the blond fl with the ‘little mermaid’ and hope to GOD they’re Yuri endgame because it would literally make my heart explode. Also, gender fluid little mermaid for the win!(≧∀≦)/)

With the week I’m sure a lot of us in the US have been enduring, this comic is literally healing me.(/TДT)/ They feel like they belong together, and oh how sweet it is to feel loved and cherished by someone you’re in a partnership with! If the world can love the way this couple loves and sympathizes with people - and people can disagree without ruining someone’s happiness - I think the world would be a kinder place. Kindness and tenderness, what should all strive towards<3
I love how both this manhwa and “Shutline” update about a day apart now. I know they’re two completely opposite manhwa genre-wise, but I like some sweet with my spice okay?! “Sunny Days” feels like if “Shutline” was healthy and ‘normal’ in a smaller setting with a wholesome storyline and proper communication. Idk, totally different levels, but I’m equally obsessed with both sets of hunky Daddies for different reasons lol
