I wanted them alive more than anything, the whole time reading it I felt deaths door approachingbut I did not foresee an almost equally as sad of an end without death involved

Jiho’s an exceptionally human character, if anything that makes me like him more, and simultaneously it scares people to empathize with him because of how real he feels. No one’s perfect, but his mistakes don’t define him! I love the drama but I can’t wait to see their eventual happy end

I wish the story would focus on the main couple and then a separate story for the side couple

I think had we gone through a redemption arc and THEN the sad backstory maybe then I’d feel bad for him, but right now it just feels like we’re being given excuses for why he treated Dan that way. It explains some of his actions, but doesn’t excuse it. Yes there’s a cycle of abuse, but that doesn’t make it okay lol he’s still very much a bad person who did horrible things to Dan. I like dramatic stories with these kinds of plot lines, but this attempt at making jjk look sad and pitiful is not working

The last few chapters have had me commenting the same thing, the author didn't play her cards right with JK's story, she should have given us a reason to root for him or humanize him *before* showing us this backstory, if played correctly these chapters would be hitting so hard and added layers to the character. But the way it's going it feels, like you said, as an excuse

Rereading the earlier chapters from a whole new perspective makes it so much more heartbreaking, it’s a beautifully written story truly
… no matter how many times I reread this I still don’t like Jj, Leo had his flaws, but they didn’t warrant JJs behavior (especially when he was hardly communicating himself) and he did NOT do enough to make up for chapter 14 imo especially when he’s supposed to be seen as the “mature” one
