I actually think that the shop owner's son has some room for redemption... like from all the available chapters he didn't seem to be that bad compared to the rest awful people.. just a dumb, arrogant young guy. and compared to the other fellow, he at least didn't think (and hope) that his action could led to fl's death, which is ridiculously naive, but a bit better than straight up wishing someone harm. also idk if the translation is correct but his phrase "if she focused on one thing I'd say to broaden her horizons" after his jealousy rant really stuck out to me. like I didn't really expect him thinking that she could look for a better job considering his attitude. usually the bully in these stories are just "go die in a ditch" or smth lol. the other thing that stuck out is his reaction to the other guy and his father's speech. he was shocked, unsettled and confused. I think he also may not be aware how isolated fl really was - in a sense how much his father manipulated her. so idk. I also don't want him to end up with the rest of the villains bc he was too a victim. like give the guy a chance. throw him into school or something, like he wanted.
the story was interesting right until fl mentioned "the book".... ugh why does fl always has to know the future? can't she be just crazy competent?
I mean in this story the “og story” doesn’t dictate anything much except justify her involvement with the prince but like in a way she did say she was just “me” as in she remembered the story when she was a grown adult so she probably integrated into Namia as a person already even before recalling the story. And everything she’s done in her life up to that adulthood was of her own competence and even her own magic/scroll ability is bc of herself and she’s not overpowered bc she remembers her past life.

started reading the novel after manhwa and I'm kind of surprised rn how different they are? more so in tone but the manhwa also left out a lot of things and changed some details for the sake of comedy.
by left out things I mainly mean mc' flashbacks. which is hella weird bc those are important for mc character and bonding moments with kim nari. for example in one ch mc remembered his life in orphanage and how the biggest kid bullied smaller kids there. that boy took all the blankets from them and even food prior to that memory so mc was starving and freezing. mc mentioned then that last winter thanks to that 4 kids died and wondered if he would be next this year. so in the age of 8 he killed that person in his sleep with a pen. that's why he was kicked out of that orphanage (not bc of murder since it's slums but it was used as an excuse to get rid of another mouth to feed). and later kidnapped with other kids.
the other flashback that was kinda important was in the scene with kim nari (manhwa's flashback with kids ganging up on her). in those he explained that since they were chimeras created for battlefield those that ranked low in competition would undergo high risk experiments (yk basically death). so fighting for their lifes kids would gather in groups to gang up on higher ranks to inflict damage that would left them disqualified. just like in the orphanage researches didn't care and only blamed the victim. since mc was always the 1st in rank he was left out while all other kids gathered in groups. kim nari was the same but while mc didn't care she was hurt by that. mc also remembered how one time 9 kids ganged up on him like that after what he broke their legs with the thread.
there were also flashback where when one instructor tried to lay a hand on him and the researcher stopped him explaining that those instructors who touched mc where found maimed the next day. that instructor was replacing the man who was left without an eye. mc picked his eye with a spoon in his sleep.
and that's like only 10 chapters. considering that ch 17 of manhwa is around 30± of novel there must be even more things left out.
I suppose they just want to make this story more light.
Hoooo, thank you for this. But yes, i feel like they wanna make it lighter and shorter i guess
Thank you for the details. This explains well how MC become who he is. His choices and his bonding. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
What site did you use to read the novel?
They didn’t show it all on page, but iit was all still in there honestly. When he was kicked out of the orphanage, it was specifically mentioned that he was acting in self-defense and that the orphanage was rundown implying financial problems and corruption so he was thrown out. We also learn from the hunters that there are rankings (and how exactly do we get rankings? battles to determine hierarchy). The scene where he helped the siblings escape, the guy was mad that it was specifically him who always came out on top, showing that he wasn’t liked. I get being disappointed scenes weren’t all fleshed out the same, but the content was all still there if you were reading it thoroughly.
