Lau was such a sweet funny and spunky kid. Why did he turn into such a useless and annoying self centered cringy emo wannabe. That's the real mystery. Xin is a manipulative husk of a human being, but that's understandable. He's never really ordered Lau around or acted maliciously as far as we know. I'll have to keep an eye on this. Good art too. I have a feeling everything is a plot to completely dismantle the system they live in, and Lau is just a tool acting blindly (because he's dumb and can't be trusted with the plan). Xin might be willing to sacrifice himself for the outcome, like in their little childhood story, so Lau can be free. Which would be nice and angsty. Fingers crossed for a happy ending but I'd be happy with a dad one too.

I'm sorry but trauma made this pookie so annoying he externalizes his struggles so aggressively, I'd get a headache just standing next to him. If I was forced to be around I'm I'd develop the lifeless eyes and dead smile just like Xin LMFAO. He reminds me of a friend's bf, who has BPD. I understand that existing in such a body must be hellish, but I love myself too much to be around whenever he experiences any slightly strong emotion. It's exhausting and my friend is a saint for tolerating it. Thoughts and prayers for these characters

yeah i get that lol id avoid his ass like the plague irl too but to me on screen hes honestly just funny to watch and ive always just enjoyed edgy tsundere characters for some reason (idk maybe im mentally ill ). i dont wanna get into spoilers too much but his outbursts become a little(?) more understandable within the next few chs so hopefully ull sympathize with him a bit more.
regardless, i have high hopes that the author will write a good character arc for him and he'll get his shit together (he better omfg. i got a job just to read this shit legally, the ending better be good). i bet fu rins gonna knock some sense into him (cuz shes the goat) but thats my personal theory.
side note: when u said "i get existing in such a body must be hellish" my first thought was that u were calling lau ugly lmfaooo i completely misinterpreted
Leave Hill ALONEEE, damn!! Start piling on Ivan instead, where the blame really belongs, lord almighty. The guy has *personally* seen to it that cruelty and injustice fall upon everyone around him except his family and the bootlicker doctor. Only when poisoning an entire river was brought up did he finally grow a conscience. He watched his father and his countrymen r*pe a whole country and had NO qualms about it. He personally saw to it that his brother would have NO choice over his own life, body and future. He didn't even have the spine to protect Hill from a r*pist and had the audacity to whip the only person that actually protected the brother he supposedly "cares" for. If Hill goes with him, I guarantee that his older brother will delude himself into "protecting" him by once again taking away his autonomy. Aside from wanting "the right" means to an end, he's just like his father. He craves control and has no issue with the genocidal, dictatorial world order that he ruled over. No morals, no excuses.
As for Hill, let him be free, goddamn. The baby is loved and well cared for. Yeah he will suffer abandonment wounds, it's not ideal, but Hill deserves to finally choose for himself after everything that has happened. He never agreed to any of this and it pisses me TF off seeing anyone guilt trip him, blame him, and manipulate his emotions. Let him go. He's a person, not everyone's comfort-dispenser. If you think he's selfish for wanting to have space and distance so he can breathe, reflect, and make his own choices, then fine. It's your right to be an insensate simpleton.
I agree with what you say. But I'm irritated at Hill for pleading for his brother. (Which i do understand him but i don't think its gonna go well). His request is too much since Xing mu is already doing alot by letting his brother live. (The brother that never treated Xing mu kindly by the way)
Totally!! The brother isn't sorry for everything he did to Xing Mu and his people. He doesn't show guilt unless it's specifically about Hill. The brother just doesn't have morals, he should rot in jail. Compare that to poor Hill, who truly had no power, but still blamed himself. He even implied that he deserved to die, because of what his brother and father did to innocent people.
