i have been reading this kind of here and there so maybe i missed something but i feel like the first part was really good and all then the second season the seme’s personality just made a 180? like, is it just me that can’t believe him at all when he acts so sweetly to the uke? i feel like i missed something huge based off of all the other comments about ”character delevolpment” and ”good flow” ??

I think it's a mix of urashima taro and the rabbit and turtle
I think its actually the korean tale of the turtle, hare and dragon king. Where the dragon king was ill and he ordered the turtle to find a hare's liver to cure him. But when the hare found out, he tricked the king to let him go back home by telling him his liver is back in the forest.
I think its the Korean folktale. The author is Korean and probably won't use a Japanese one.

yes haha but I meant it as in Koreans aren't fond of Japan (due to their colonial rule and denial of sex slaves) so they won't use Japanese folk tales when they have their own that they can use. Ofc some portions of their cultures overlap since they're right next to each other but other than those shared ones, the author probably won't consciously look for a Japanese folktale to use.

They took young girls as young as 12 years old to military camps and caged them like animals. The girls were raped constantly. There are only a few grandmothers alive now and they're still waiting for an apology. Most of them died alone without a family because they felt ashamed for being raped. And yes some were just slaves. They were shipped off to different countries that Japan was colonizing and used for labour and when the war ended, abandoned there. It's really sad to hear about.
