i think kanons mum meant what she said because she know the two of them are close and are good to each other and thats why she doesnt want them to be roomates and potentially have a huge falling out. ive heard of people being roomates with their friends/best friends but the diffrence in lifestyles caused them to resent each other and fight all the time. so thats probably what kanons mum if afraid of.
she wants to make sure kanon and saki continue to be friends, especially after kanons closest friend and kanon ending up breaking up after kanon relied on her a lot and they were really close with each other, theyre break up caused kanon to become closed off.
