I don't know.. don't kids usually watch cartoons ? And isn't anime in Japan just cartoons? I always watched cartoons while growing up and didn't exactly notice anyone being mean about watching those? Maybe it's just me. But I don't know.
I don't think it's because they watch cartoons it's because they are you know obsessed with it?idk tho
There's a difference between anime, and animated cartoons. Doraemon is technically anime, but it's more like a cartoon.
Anyways, this is the 90s we're talking about.
Yea I grew up watching that and Naruto but I have never seen anyone getting bullied for liking that or maybe people around me weren't that hardcore
Nah, I wasn't either, but you always hear about kids in the 90s getting bullied for watching anime, especially in America.
I'm pretty sure that Animanga fans in Japan aren't looked at the best even now. There are a good amount of stories about adults hiding their interests out still.

People usually get hated for watching cartoons because of their age ig. Nobody would hate a 5yo watching cartoons, some people would start look weird at a 10yo watching cartoons, a lot of people would get weird around a 16yo watching cartoons, and like way too many people would feel disgusted a 30yo watching cartoons. Here though it's mostly because the mc and friends do 18+ dojinshi
