Reading these comments is wild. I guess after reading multiple arguments I agree with most of it. I can definitely agree with the points brought up about how it shouldn't be listed as shounen. I think that's totally valid. I also agree with most points about the unfair popularity that fetish work gets above other genres.
I feel iffy about the way everybody is addressed as a pedophile or permissive of them at the very least. I really can't understand the argument you present but I think that's just cuz I'm bad at reading angry text and not that it has no basis.
I can understand the argument that it negatively affects people because it most definitely does. I mean they've done studies about it on porn but I also think it's a huge oversight to assume everybody's baseline actions and backgrounds surrounding their reading is the same. I know for me when I read disturbing work, be it gratuitous violence or taboo sexual content, I take time to listen to people's opinions and sort out my own feelings to make sure the bleed of what I read doesn't affect my real life since I'm older and can do that now. Something which other people might not do or not know how. On the flip side some people will be less affected or go through more precautions.
(Also, I've been pretty messed up by the Internet as a kid and I never really learned how to walk back bad habits so if you do have a link to how to that I would really appreciate it. I wanna get better but I'm aware that right now I don't know how to do it effectively and you seem fairly knowledgeable ma'am/sir.)
I don't really condone the manga, I certainly would never share it because I understand that it is fetish content that really shouldn't be given any platform. However, I wouldn't really condemn the people reading that stand neutrally and from what I could gather you, know that too I think? Some people are just trying to defend their own actions, which I think is fair because who would know you better than yourself. I also think maybe the amount of arguing you have to do makes you less open to that gray area?
I guess my main question is, I would be extremely tired having to argue so much with stubborn people. Don't you think it would be time better spent to put out blanket warnings for new readers to discourage those who shouldn't read rather than argue with those who would probably never stop? I know that when I clicked and reviewed the comments it wasn't your comments that made me pause but rather a different user who commented that the updates turned more sexual, which I wasn't cool with. And I don't know you, maybe you enjoy the fighting, heaven knows some people here ARE that disgusting and perverted but shouldn't you target those people more heavily? Some people you get into sparring matches with are just saying these comments are crazy.
Anyways I'm rooting for you against those actual crazy people but maybe don't try to take on everyone? And if you do respond please try to be polite if possible. I just wanna understand and talk, maybe get a link
