Could anyone explain the concept of the game like are the player characters' consciousness just in the game and they're alive IRL. And so the NPCs are not alive IRL. What are they trying to accomplish here? To escape the game? Did someone force them in it or did they go willingly? Is there someone monitoring outside the game world? What happens to them IRL when they stop playing the tapes. If anyone could explain then

I read it as a whole and got the big twist about npc. But maybe I'm missing something but my question is about the horror game as a whole. Was it ever explained or hinted about how the friend group came into playing the game ? And where do they go when they stop playing the tapes because I remember in one chapter it said that hyungshin and his crush (I forgot the name) stopped playing the tapes because they were tired or something. Did they go back to real life? And are they stuck here until the game is cleared , unable to go to real world ?
I think everyone is stuck in the "game" until they clear it. The tapes just serves as their "memories". How or where they got this "game" we have no idea. If anything the premise was that they're all trapped. So was it really a game or did they just discover the mechanics and decided they're in a game? We won't know until the next season ╥﹏╥

Someone was looking for this on reddit so I thought I'd crosspost it here cause shit sounds interesting!!!
MC (bottom) reincarnates in modern times after suffering all his life. In his old life he was part of the imperial family (historical time) but he was banished (I think) and the emperor (the ML) finds him years later, locks him up and rapes him until MC commits suicide.
In his new life he decides to change but his friend looks a lot like the emperor so he avoids him, runs away from him. But he will get to know him and they will get closer.
Also, the ML goes crazy after MC's death and decides to do a weird ritual that allows him to reincarnate with the MC and keep his memories. Then he pursues the MC in his lives there without ever managing to be with him...
In the most recent life they are still in high school and ML is gently trying to coax the MC .
