Dan really has Stockholm syndrome and is dumb, not to mention a big sissy, and Jaekyung is in dire need of anger management and therapy

Why do people use uke and seme?? Just refer to them as the main characters or their names. Saying bottom/top or uke/seme is kinda dumb (just my opinion, please don't get offended)

    agreed

    namjinist October 27, 2020 8:12 am

i usually use the name but if idr i would refer to their position, i mean yeah its hard to remember names when u read tons of manhua/manga :')

Don’t get offended by calling what they’re doing dumb lmfao. It’s because the rarely remember the names they’re probably reading 4-5 other stories so they just refer to them as uke and seme so we can understand who they are talking about. It’s pretty obvious

    Starsandmetaphors October 27, 2020 1:15 pm

if you read a lot of yaoi, the names start to blurr and you can't remember all of them, so you settle for calling them uke/seme. it's quicker then having to look up their names and remember who was named who. especially in short yaoi's that don't really give you much time to get invested in the characters, so you forget their names. You'll probably find that in long running BL's, people are more inclined to remember their names because they've gotten more time to get to know them and read about them/read their names. You memorize something for easier if you get to read it more often after all.

I totally get that and understand that, especially because I forget the names all the time, but my thing is just that when a new episode will come out on here, and they're making a comment about it, wouldn't you know the names because you just read it? Its more understanding though when just talking about it and not reading a new episode

I'm not offended, I just thought it was a little dumb. It is obvious and I understand they forget names, I do too, but when a chapter just comes and out and they're making a comment about it, I'm pretty sure they know the names so I found it a bit dumb in that situation.

Actually, I'd say is the opposite. If a new episode comes out, you might not have gotten enough time to learn the names because you haven't taken your time to commit the name to memory. How long does a person take to read a single chapter? A few minutes, 5 minutes, maybe ten? Imagine reading a lot of different stories at the side + reading a new chapter quickly + the name is not repeated a lot of times in that same chapter so the name is no longer fresh in your mind. You might read that name two or three times depending on how often the name is said in the chapter. It would be harder to remember something that is one: new, two: not often repeated and three: while you're also focused on other stories. It's how memorization works; new things are harder to remember then things that have gone on for quite a while. It would be different, like a said, with long running yaoi's. At that point, you've read the names so often (because you're reading several chapters right after each other: i.e. you're repeating the name more often for yourself since you're reading it quite frequently and you're actually investing yourself in the story since you're reading so many chapters after each other) that you've started to unconsciously remember them. Hence, people just settling for calling someone an uke or seme
