His presence is foreshadowed through the whole story so far. He is dead but still so very present. I’m probably in some extreme minority but I’m genuinely curious about Han Jaewon’s psychological portrait. The simplest, lazy answer is obvious: he was just some kind of psychopath with narcissistic traits but I hope there is more to it. Of course the level of the toxicity, hatred and harm he presented can’t be explained in any way but I look forward to his story being expanded at least a little bit.
I’m curious about the mother’s role. It’s clear she was such an important figure in the whole situation. How the loss of one twin during pregnancy affected them. Her lost career too. The way she looked at young Seo-In in orphanage gave me chills, there was some madness in that gaze, greed. She also knew how her biological son was, did she do anything about it? Or swept it under the rug? What about the father? And his role in all of it.
It’s clear Han Jaewon saw Seo-In as his replacement. That he is broken, sick and is going to die sooner than later and his parents/mother brought the healthier, better “model” home who is going to replace him one day when he is no longer there. It’s clear that the illness and the appearance of the “better version of himself” made him bitter but it still doesn’t explain the level of coldness and harm he had showed since such a young age.
I hope author is going to develop this thread.
