I get why we greatly dislike the ML right now. He could've EASILY taken both women onto the horse or at a minimum ensured everyone was okay.
(You have powers dude!!! (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ )
However, from the initial chapters it seems he doesn't remember the face of his saviour (likely due to the trauma of being tortured and incarcerated).
Also, he believes the FL's dad only has 1 daughter ╮(￣▽￣)╭ And the FL has been described as a very well paid (read as greedy) stand-in.
Why would he think she was his saviour?? Or a hidden daughter of the duke??
It seems through all the ML's hardship in war that one of the only things that kept him going was his saviour...
So now that he finally has her, he's willing to do ANYTHING to keep her. Even if it means going against his instincts and values...(￣∇￣")
