I will admit that when I was first reading this I wanted Mc and the childhood friend to get together but as I kept reading I realized that they aren’t a good match for each other it’s a very common trope that the childhood friend won’t confess their feelings for the Mc until they feel threatened by love interest alluding to the fact that they probably wouldn’t have confessed their feelings at all unless they feel challenged and it’s lowkey a dick move think about it Mc’s childhood friend had all that time to confess and start a relationship with Mc but didn’t because he didn’t feel threatened and now he’s physically harming the love interest because he sees him as someone getting in the way of their relationship when that’s not true.
