Ines has definitely gradually been developing. But I think this is one of those chapters that shows her more important developments in a more direct way which I like. I like that we are walked through her thought process as she realizes it’s unfair to continue hiding things from him while expecting complete transparency from his side which also indirectly gets them even closer together.
Sometimes the manwha chapters feel a little rushed so seeing her thoughts getting breathing room this ch is nice.
Agreed. I just posted on that. This is extremely important development for Ines. It’s not an easy thing for her to admit she’s wrong. She’s not that type of person. One of the reasons why she only gets the bad memories from the first timeline is to develop her character and as we discussed before, she conscientiously changes her behavior in the present to be kinder to Carcel. I simply love that he’s influencing her change without even thinking about it.
This was a good chapter, but I’m unsure what the point is of omitting those last couple speech bubbles considering in the raws for the next chapter we don’t revisit this scene. So it’ll either be omitted forever or maybe revisited later? I’m not sure.
I have no idea why they omitted the words. It’s most meaningful here. They also neglected to show that Ines realized Carcel already knew the truth about why she chose him and he was hurt by the truth. They always diminish his feelings or hurt as a person except when he’s hurting for Ines. This is why many of the original novel readers I knew already dropped the manhwa since season 1.
Novel excerpt below from Ines’s perspective:
—————
"Because I never intended to live as your wife in the first place."
The forlong blue eyes of Cárcel crumbled a little. What struck her in the meantime was that he was hurting while knowing everything. He wasn't falling apart by the unexpected shock of the dream, nor by the sense of betrayal from her. (INES REALIZED CARCEL WASN’T SHOCKED BY THE TALK OF DREAMS AND THE TRUTH OF WHY SHE CHOSE HIM)
"I wasn't going to ever tell you, not because I want you to live with me without knowing, but because you don't even need to know."
It was a wound he was already familiar with, a pain he could foresee. She just couldn't understand it. (INES’S THOUGHTS)
"In the first place, I thought my problem had nothing to do with you. That's the difference between my parents and me who deceived you."
But he knew. How did he know, yet could still love her? (INES’S THOUGHTS)
"I was the one who knew my flaws best, but I wasn't the least bit sorry for you.
Because this marriage isn't real anyway."
"Inés."
"I was going to ruin everything from the start. From that early age, looking at the innocent you."
“I know.”
“I…….”
“I know, Inés. Even if you didn’t look so sorry to death.”
“I, Cárcel, I….”
“I know it’s not like that anymore.”
Cárcel’s eyes were stiff, as if he had been hurt. Ironically, as much as he didn’t break down, she belatedly fell apart. Tears that filled up in an instant flowed down endlessly. (INES’S THOUGHTS)
That’s unfortunate. It looks like the novel does a really good job acknowledging both characters’ point of views. I believe the artist once stated they liked both characters equally in a recent extra chapter. However clearly there’s some favoritism lol. The art this chapter was great though.
They are biased. What people don’t know generally, the artist and the storyteller had an interview in Taiwan and a Taiwanese novel reader told us about it. She then provided the translation of the interview and their answers showed they strongly favored Ines. The only thing I can say in the artist’s favor is that she at least got the message of the story correct. She said the story is about love between Ines and Carcel. For some novel readers on the forum who saw the interview, it confirmed one of their reasons to drop the manhwa story entirely.
I think the dialogue will be on the next chapter. Chill
The next two chapters were already released in Korea so I already know what’s in them. At least know your facts first before telling someone to chill.
