His redemption arch wasn't even that great, he still doing whatever the fuck he wants, controlling and inconsiderate. He was and still is a red flag. He could've just stop there. He could've just fallen in love after the kid isn't a minor. He doesn't need to fucking say he wanted to do it since the kid was still a minor. It would've been so much better with just a few tweaks to the story. The rest was okay as long as he didn't fell in love since the kid was still a minor. It's that simple to make an acceptable story. I still appreciate the anxiety on public perception with gays but it would be better if the falling in love didn't happen when one of them is still a minor.
