This might sound weird, but I'm so glad they showed some type of PTSD with the mc after he went back in time. Most of the time with this trope they somehow act perfectly fine. It would literally be like "this person killed everyone i loved right in front of me, tortured and abused me, and then finally killed me, but I'm not the same person i was before!" Like, no, you would still have some type of trauma response, even involuntarily, so I appreciate this showing some trauma.
in the novel they go into so much detail showing his trauma over the course of the story and how he is healing from it. it’s done really well and not rushed/not unrealistic. it’s quite tearjerking
